Summary & contents
.- The authors.
Foreword, by Simon Moore. Was Simon Moore who helped this book come alive, sharing with us his passion, knowledge and archive, and even taking a ten day "Alfa" trip to Argentina for the research.
.- Introduction.
.- Argentina from 1900 to 1972, by Teresa Gonzalez Bonorino de Iacona. A summary of the history highlights of our country in the indicated period.
.- The Pioneers: Alfa Romeo G1, RL, P2. Eduardo Caru & Cia. Juan A. Roccatagliata. The RL were the first Alfas to race in Argentina, and some very specials as a Targa Florio even came to our country. Also, the only P2 that left europe came to Buenos Aires, as part of an advertise show organized by the importer, Juan A. Roccatagliata.
.- The sports car par excellence: Alfa Romeo 8C 2300 Monza. One of the most succesfull Vitorrio Jano's design, the 8C 2.300. 2 Cars came to Argentina to race, s/n 2311209 and SF 25. Both cars have a special chapter on the book.
.- The First Single Seater: Alfa Romeo Type B (P3). Legendary as few Alfas, 2 Type B cars came to Argentina. s/n 50009 had a huge activity from 1937 onwards, until late 50's, when it finally dissapeared. s/n 5001 spent sometime in Argentina, but never got to race. A chapter for each car is featured, and also about the Brazilian Type B cars (2) racing in our country, and its possible fate in Brazil.
.- A GP in Mecanica Nacional: Alfa Romeo 8C 35. s/n 50014, a car that have made "noise" in the last couple of years, is deeply research. From the race with Arzani in Naples, Italy, to the fatal crash of Pablo Luis Pesssati in Palermo, Argentina, in 1949.
.- Refined Excellence: Alfa Romeo 8C 2900 A & B. Not more than 40 cars or so were made, and 5 came to race to our country! The Boticella, 412015, 412036, 412041 & 412043 have each its special chapter.
.- The people's car: Alfa Romeo 308. There is no GP car, of any make, more famous than the 308 3.800 s/n 50017 in our soil! 4 Argentinenan championships; raced from 1939 to 1963 non stop, and it is still with us today, in original configuration. Huge chapter on it!
.- The postwar prewar car: Alfa Romeo 12C/316. A special hybrid Alfa Romeo, with 316C chassis and 12C 37 engine. Special configuration, a car built originally for Jean Pierre Wimille, that then went to Achille Varzi and then to Clemar Bucci. Want more? Bucci had a second 12C, and he tells the story of it on the book. Both s/n 51204 and 51202 are covered.
.- The greatest ever: Fangio & Alfa Romeo. "El Chueco" won his first World Championship with Alfa Romeo, and also campaigned in sports cars. A huge chapter on him, with previously unreleased pictures.
.- From Le Mans to Peron: Alfa Romeo 6C 3000 CM Boano. A wealthy Workers Union called CGT send this car as a gift to former president Peron. Learn about the cars early life in europe, and its argentinean days, until exported to the USA.
.- The Argentine Alfa Romeo: IKA Bergantin. Few people know about this story. IKA, Industrias Kaiser Argentina, bought in late 50s to Alfa Romeo the 1900 Berlina body patterns, and built the car with both Willys 4 and Continental 6 cylinder engine. See this bizarre machine on a special chapter.
.- The Vianini era: Giuliettas, Giulias and GTAs racing in Argentina. Giusseppe Vianini, an italian bussinesman established in Argentina, take Alfa Romeo again to Buenos Aires, and he did it in a huge way! He imported the new Giuliettas and Giulias, and set a very important racing team, that included Virgilio Conrero and Carlo Facetti living in Buenos Aires! A ver large and special chapter, full of amazing pictures.
.- Back to competition: Alfa Romeo 33/3, 33TT3. The luck was not with the Autodelta team in Buenos Aires, though, in 1970, they won the "200 Millas de la Ciudad de Buenos Aires". 1970, 1971 and 1972 editions of the "1000 Kilometros de la Ciudad de Buenos Aires" are covered, with great shots!
