The 1000 kilometres of Buenos Aires was an international event of speed counting for the Sports Car World Championship. Created in 1954 this race has a tradition of convoking legendary drivers such as Juan Manuel Fangio, Stirling Moss, Giuseppe Farina, Maurice Trintignant, Phil Hill, Mike Hawthorn, Froilán González, Olivier Gendebien, Dan Gurney, Jean Behra, Peter Collins, Wolfgang von Trips, Jo Siffert, Derek Bell, Pedro Rodriguez, Henri Pescarolo, Jo Bonnier, Brian Redman, Arturo Merzario, Jacky Ickx and Mario Andretti, among others.
Also, every January, not only this race attracted the great cars from Porsche, Ferrari, Alfa Romeo, Matra, Jaguar and many more but also the efforts of enthusiastic privates, for an extraordinarily competitive race on a demanding circuit made of runways and roads near city downtown.
This Book captures every moment from the ecstasy of victory to the anguish of defeat of a race unmatched by any other race in motorsports, fulfilled in Argentina, one of the world’s most fervent sporting nations. You' will find virtual lap-by-lap accounts of each year's race, from the premiere in 1954 through 1972´s last edition covered in detail, with a race summary and a complete result table. Full of anecdotes about popular drivers such as Fangio, Moss, Farina and Phill Hill and teams including the Porsche, Alfa Romeo, Ferrari, Jaguar, Mercedes-Benz and Maserati that battled through Buenos Aires Avenues, and a complete recollection of never-before-published photos of race action that capture the spirit of the event.
